The Easter Edition (Vol. I) - Lancaster

Right, getting down to what i was up to the past 3 weeks:

Lancaster - 24/03 to 26/03
Ken took an early morning train on 24/03 from glasgow and arrived in lancaster at 10am thereabouts. i met him at the station and we decided to return to campus to dump the luggage and cure him of his sleep deprivation. we had a simple lunch of sandwiches and fruit juice. there is much to see in lancaster even though it is a small town. the city slogan - "Lancaster, Historic City." Given the choice of "History" or "Nature" as separate town tours i planned, ken picked nature. we stopped by Dalton Square, Town Hall, St Peter's Cathedral and some cottage-like housing (built specially for the old of lancaster) which are en route to the parks. i had the intention of showing him both the williamson and leisure parks but due to time constraints (hira was coming over for dinner), we only managed to visit williamson. we headed to sainsbury's to do some grocery shopping before travelling back to campus. Having only 1/2 an hour to prepare dinner, i must say we did a fine job. hira enjoyed the food tremendously (us too..). ken decided to put on "Team America - World police" on my laptop and i must say it's the most vulgar and hysterical flick i've ever seen. Gosh, none of us were expecting anything like that... but then again, the flick's by the makers of south park so i guess that explains the humour. Lots of blatant (or so i feel) political innuendos. Later that night, ken helped anna with some com technical problems and tuned her guitar. we also shared some of the songs we sing in church with her. (note: she's an orthodox christian and they do not sing "modern day" worship songs or hymns)

Original plans to complete the "History" part of the tour were scrapped cos both of us were just too lazy to leave campus. picked up some veg from the spar convenience store just below my block and whipped up 2 chinese dishes for lunch - lemon chicken and stir fried broccoli with mushrooms in oyster sauce. it was good but ken preferred the previous night's italian. anna invited us to her orthodox church liturgy that evening and we gladly accepted her invitation. the liturgy was dedicated to the holy virgin mary in celebration of the coming easter (27/03). service ended right at about 9.00pm and we took a stroll around campus before returning to the tower.

the next day was packing, more packing and calling the youth hostels in barcelona and paris to confirm my reservations. took the bus to town and had a drink at Old Bell's Coffee House before heading to the railway station to begin our journey to Leicester.
