for being such a superb, outstanding, exceptional, striking, crappy, humourous, witty, thoughtful, professional dhoby (=P) and photographer & definitely Hospitable host in Leicester!!
[Jon, please don't implode from an ego boost.. :) ]
We arrived in Leicester after an arduous 3 change, 6hour journey. complete madness/frenzy. Lancaster to Preston by bus, Preston to Birmingham New Street by train (which was delayed), Birmingham New street to Nuneaton by bus and FINALLY Nuneaton to Leicester by train. the many changes were due to engineering works during weekends. the price to pay for a relatively well priced ticket of GBP10.50 i reckon. Jonathan (Ken's secondary school classmate) was there at the station to receive us. took a cab back to his place (private terrace housing: 3 bedrooms, 1 living, 1 bath, 1 kitchen) & met his 2 housemates. Watched some comedies that were absolutely uproarious on jon's laptop before lights out. (thanks for picking out the 'cleanest' ones jon).

I woke up the next morning only to remember that it was Daylight saving (which means uk time is an hour faster) and we had 20minutes to prepare and get to church for Easter Service. the guys probably wouldn't have recognised otherwise. Fortunately for us, church was only a 5minute walk away and we managed to be somewhat punctual. one of my very few times at a catholic mass and my first easter service at a catholic church. well, i guess it doesn't matter where u worship as long as u're alert and know who you're worshipping and singing praises to. (i'll stop here lest i start an essay on this).
We walked to town later that afternoon visiting the University of Leicester and Victoria Park (Leicester's only "attraction") en route. jon's friend, kelvin, who's mum and brother were visiting had invited us to a DimSum Easter celebration in town. We arrived an hour late all because jon had forgotten to reset his watch. (jon!!!) it was a crowd of about 10 and they had already finished their 1st round of food. it was a good meal but we all felt bad for making the rest wait.

We walked to Opal Court Residences (Student Accomodation) after lunch so that jon could pass some stuff back to shihui. Had some good and humourous conversations. Then, the weirdest thing happened, both shihui and geraldine claimed that i looked familiar but we never attended the same schools back in singapore. i joked that we could probably be from the same kindergarten. and so it was, oddly enough, with me and geraldine.. we were kindergarten classmates.. how weird is that. even to the detail of me remembering that this girl 'geraldine', specifically, went to RGPS after that. and she, on the other hand, remembers me as the girl who had different scrunchies and pins in her hair everyday. i'm still utterly amazed at how she managed to recognise me after 14 years? ahahahha.. yay, i still look young! totally bizarre and random incident i must say. We had dinner at 'Flame', this wonderful Asian buffet restaurant that night. Was feeling nauseous from all the smoky fumes after that but it was a really good meal.

Woke up the next morning (28/03) all ready for our day trip to Birmingham. Jon gave us a pretty good tour of the city, having already been there twice himself. i'll leave it to the pictures to do the talking this time, i'm too slothful right now.

& Symphony Hall in the Background

Got back to Leicester at about 7.00pm and met up with some others for LaserQuest. i didn't have a go at it simply because i was too tired. the rest had tonnes of fun though. Got to bed right at about midnight. Took a cab to the train station early the next morning to catch our train to Cambridge.
[Conclusion: Leicester - boring place, GREEAATT pple! ; Birmingham - Fantabulous City!]
